von Braun´s Review
An outstanding example of the BMW 323i Baur TC (Top Cabriolet). The model was only produced in approximately 1490 examples between 1980 and 1984, including both right-hand and left-hand drive cars. This makes the car very attractive and sought after by collectors and significantly more unusual and unique than both the BMW M3 and 325ix. The E30 generation Baur Top Cabriolet delivers in many ways the best of both worlds. When the top panel is dismantled and the fabric is lowered all the way down to the trunk, you get the open experience of a convertible. At the same time, the strength in the construction of the window frames and roof beams is maintained, which eliminates the deterioration of torsional stiffness that is otherwise common for a convertible.
The condition of this vehicle is very good. The car was delivered new in Sweden in October 1984 and has been in Sweden since then. Most of the mileage on the clock has been driven between 1984 and September 1991 when the car was put away in storage. In August 2020 the car was brought back into traffic. It is therefore something of a time capsule taken directly from the eighties. At some point during its 39 years, it seems to have had its paintwork updated and we measure about 200 uM paint thickness on everything except A-pillars and tailgate where the paint layer is only about 140 uM thick. The lower edge of the tailgate shows a minor tendency to wear and age. Otherwise, the bodywork is completely free of remarks. The paintwork is professionally done and we do not experience any shade differences on the original color called 060/7 Polaris Silver Metallic. The interior's blue textile, vinyl panels and carpets are rudely fine and show almost no wear or fading. Even the engine compartment radiates a condition comparable to when the car was new. All original decals and details are perceived to be very fine. The engine compartment sound dampening material on the underside of the hood was dry and brittle when it arrived at von Braun Sports Cars, so we have replaced this with a new authentic material.
The car, which has a six-cylinder engine of 2.3 liters, produces 143 horsepower. It is connected to a manual 5-speed gearbox where the fifth gear is an overdrive. During the test drive, both engine and transmission make us convinced that the car has been very well taken care of throughout its life. All accessories are available for the car such as tools, jack and original Bauer Manual in several languages. You will find the most complete presentation of the car including 37 high resolution photos at vonBraun.com
