An opportunity to acquire a very rare and beautiful 1957 BMW 503 Coupé. This particular example is presented in the highly sought-after special-order colour “Ultramaroon Metallic”. With only 412 examples produced, of which 273 were coupés, the BMW 503 is one of the rarest and most exclusive models in BMW’s post-war history.

The BMW 503 shares its engine with the iconic BMW 507, and beneath the bonnet sits a 3.2-litre V8 fitted with twin Zenith carburettors, producing 140 hp through a four-speed manual gearbox. The current owner has commissioned the skilled craftsmen at von Braun Sports Cars to fit the BMW with a completely new interior in a beautiful light brown shade, which creates a truly spectacular combination with the copper-coloured paintwork.

The BMW 503 and 507 were unveiled at the 1955 Frankfurt Motor Show, where their new aluminium V8 engine was introduced to replace the earlier straight-six engine used in BMW’s pre-war cars. This engine helped put BMW back on the path to producing sports cars. Both the 503 and 507 were sensational, but Pinin Farina declared the 503 the most beautiful car at the show. The 503 was luxurious, possessed a sporty personality and, above all, was expensive.

The engine and gearbox appear to be original and are believed to retain their matching numbers.

It can quite rightly be claimed that this is one of the rarest and most sought-after BMW models of the 1950s. The future owner of this 503 Coupé will undoubtedly appreciate its elegant design and charismatic driving characteristics.
