von Braun´s Review
A Ferrari 348 TS with solid black paint makes the compact and stylish body come into its own.
This particular 348 TS Targa has incredible potential. It is in need of some cosmetic love which von Braun Sports Cars can help with. For those who like to update and fix themselves, this could be just the right car. The paint has plenty of stone chips and a few minor dents, but it shows honest condition from its 32 years on the road. The interior leather and panels also have a patina and can be preserved or retouched depending on what the next owner desires. The steering wheel is of original design. There is a retrofitted speaker box mounted behind the seats along with an additional power amplifier.
From a technical perspective, the car appears to be in good condition. It has been regularly and extensively maintained. In the spring of 2023, at 97343 km, extensive service work was carried out with a timing belt change, including a major 100,000 km service with valve adjustment, new spark plugs, packing boxes and replacement of 1 lambda probe. Documentation regarding service and maintenance is completely collected, including service book and manuals in leather cases. It still has its original tool set where the leather has been exposed to moisture which has caused some discoloration. The laminated front and rear window shows some separation between the glass layers in a few places along the edge. Front tire made by Ventus with a tread depth of 4.5 mm. Rear tire made by Kumho with a tread depth of 4 mm. New metal catalysts have replaced the original ceramic catalysts. 348 and early F355 often have the childhood disease of worn valve guides. This may have had the cylinder heads refurbished earlier. The engine's exhaust gas values ??report good exhaust gas values. Thanks to service maintenance and the fact that all history is collected for the car, despite some cosmetic wear, it qualifies under von Braun's judgment with 2.5 to 3 out of 5 stars. General about the Ferrari 348.
The model name 348 refers to the 3.4 liter small longitudinally mounted V8 of 300 horsepower which sits centrally mounted behind the driver. The manual transaxle transmission has 5 gears. The 348 was a successor to the 328 and a predecessor to the F355. It combines Ferrari's legendary aura with more modern utility, while the model inherited its classic air intakes from its big brother Testarossa, which had a 12-cylinder boxer engine and was in production at the same time. Under the hood we find the famous Ferrari F119 V8 engine with four valves per cylinder, improving both efficiency and performance. Thanks to my engine placement with a transaxle layout, the car gets a weight balance and better handling.
Aerodynamics have not been overlooked either. With a flat bottom and a rear diffuser, drag is reduced and ground pressure is increased, providing stability at high speeds. This design allowed the 348 TS Targa to take over from the popular Ferrari 328, and was a result of improved performance and technology to meet the changing demands of the market.
