von Braun´s Review
Perhaps the 1957 Corvette Roadster, with its prominent 7" single headlights up front, is the most iconic of the C1 generation. Its classic aura bears striking resemblance to the Shelby Cobra and early European sports cars from Ferrari and Maserati. Throughout the '50s and '60s, these Corvettes were a common sight on racetracks in slightly modified versions. This Corvette breathes both racing spirit and nostalgia, and it can be driven open without its hardtop. At the same time, it offers better performance and drivability than its siblings in their original condition. The car features a brand-new 327 cubic inch engine built by Liberty Engine Rebuilders in the USA. The engine is based on a 2-bolt block with casting number 3858180 (1964-67). It has Mickey Mouse heads, an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, and Hooker headers with sidepipes. The transmission is the period-correct and robust 4-speed Borg Warner T10-7B from 1960-61. The rear axle has a positraction differential with a 4.11:1 ratio. The wheels are American Racing 7x15". The brakes have turned drums and a refurbished master cylinder, along with new wheel cylinders. The steering wheel retains its classic original appearance but has a smaller diameter, significantly improving getting in and out of the car.
Of course, the car is inspected and street approved for all future use, and it's tax-exempt in Sweden. This Corvette is not just an investment in a delightful classic car but also a piece of American cultural history that you can easily carry forward and personalize without any guilt towards the original purists.
In 1957, the Corvette's body received a reinforced front end. The chassis of our car is also slightly reinforced to accommodate its wonderfully functioning V8 engine.
The 1957 Corvette is more than just a car; it's a time machine that transports you back to an era of freedom and adventure. If no one else claims this icon, we might not be able to resist putting the von Braun Sports Cars' mark on it eventually.
